Greetings, and welcome to a new day for the Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission.  The foundation, on which my colleagues and I build, is one of great dedication and commitment.  However, we shall not rest on our laurels. The days ahead welcome the opportunity for continued progress,  and the new administration is excited about what lies ahead.  Change does not happen over night...but it can, and will happen.

Your thoughts, ideas, and experience are much needed.  We are aggressively working to revitalize old partnerships, while developing new ones.  We are also re-energizing our DREAM KEEPERS and expanding the Commission’s presence in the community.  We hope you will visit or call our office soon, to learn how you may assist in the effort, to live the dream and make change happen.

In celebration of the first 100 days in office as Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission’s Executive Director, DuShun Scarbrough (above) held a press conference and reception at the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce.  Held on June 27th, the presentation highlighted the revamped Commission’s activities from the first day of Scarbrough’s employment to present.  Scarbrough’s presentation included the introduction of the AMLKC Diamondbacks, an RBI baseball team sponsored by the Commission, and a synopsis of the Commission’s participation in this year’s Juneteenth Celebration, in which Honorary Commissioner Annie Abrams took the stage with Scarbrough, volunteers, and staff. The Commission’s fresh, new image is managed by a local marketing company, The Design Group. Scarbrough states that the firm’s leadership, Myron Jackson, Telly Noel, and Mark Parker did an amazing job publicizing and professionally executing the event, from the media coverage and lively atmosphere to the awesome food spread. Scarbrough states that the marketing and the food spread was paid for by two new AMLKC sponsors, Denny’s Restaurants/Bob Dunican and A’Test Consultants/Jeff Sims. The ceremony also acknowledged the Commission’s membership in the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce.
