Nonviolence Youth Summit Part VI – A NEW BEGINNING
2/24/2012 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Durand Conference Center, 303 N Main, Harrison, AR 72601
There are many advantages to partnerships in the community, especially in the area of community awareness. The Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission, with the assistance of the Arkansas Department of Human Services, has implemented a program that is designed to encourage youth to engage in positive leadership development and roles within their communities. Therefore, the Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission will host “Nonviolence Youth Summit Part VI – A NEW BEGINNING” at the North Arkansas College Durand Conference Center, 303 N Main, Harrison, AR 72601, on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM. This event is free and open to all, but prior confirmation of attendance is requested. Click here to register today and once again, admission is free (http://arkingdream.org/EventCalendar/tabid/84/ctl/EditReg/Mid/426/ItemID/67/SelectedDate/20120224/Default.aspx).
These summits are structured to educate the youth on the principles of Kingian Nonviolence and other important issues so that they can become ambassadors of peace and face the violence within their communities. These summits allow our youth the opportunity to attend seminars on professional development, leadership, Arkansas history, motivation, and so much more. Our mission is to reach youth in all corners of the state. We have had great success in holding Nonviolence Youth Summits Parts I, II, III, IV, and V, which garnered attendance of approximately 500 youth per event. Part I was held in West Memphis in January 2010; Part II in Pine Bluff in May 2010; Part III in Fayetteville in October 2010; Part IV was held in Little Rock in May 2011; and Part V was held in Hope in October 2011. Please visit www.ARKingDream.org for photos and more details about the Nonviolence Youth Summits.
Therefore, we cordially invite you and your community to the “Nonviolence Youth Summit Part VI – A NEW BEGINNING”. The Keynote Speaker is slated to be Dr. Bernard LaFayette. We ask that you RSVP by email to walter.l.washington@arkansas.gov – Program Coordinator with a list of those attending and participating as well as a signed form waiving the AMLKC of any liability (which is attached at the end of this document) as soon as possible, so that everyone who attends will be accommodated accordingly. Also, online registration is available via www.arkingdream.org/EventCalendar.aspx. If there are any questions, then please feel free to contact our office. We look forward to seeing you there!
Respectfully,
